Wear your heart – on a cupcake or a cup – to show your Sweetie how much you care for him or her this Valentine’s Day, which is Monday.
Yes, we know how good all those aromatic herbs and spices are when it comes to adding a little heat to your Valentine’s Day meal. But there is one thing you don’t want to leave out, and that’s a little bite of good chocolate.
One of my favorite chocolate recipes is the one I posted a while back for Black Bottom Cupcakes, which is pictured above. Deep, dark chocolate bottoms hold a center of creamy cheese cake-like filling studded with chocolate chips. I’ve made this recipe more times than I can count up and it never gets old. Check it out if you’re looking for something quick, yet impressive, to serve for Valentine’s Day (or any time of the year, for that matter).
I recently returned to that recipe like an old friend and topped it off with a delightful stencil etched in confectioner’s sugar. A sweet heart-shaped fleur–de–lis was a perfect addition to this petite treat.
And where did those little wooden designs come from? My sweet penpal from The Netherlands, who is always surprising me with presents from her world travels.
She is also the one who sent me those “notched” cookie cutters that made cookies that sit on the lip of a cup. That’s another recipe that would delight your Valentine – Spiced Chocolate Sugar Cookies.
Time to get busy.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
